Vampires
Feeding habits: Can survive on humans or other animals. They do not have to kill what they are feeding on. Younger vampires are often more reckless and harder to control than the older ones. They do have elongated and pointed canines but with practice, are able to hide them.
Reaction to sunlight: Sunlight will cause severe burning to the skin of a vampire. Their blood boils and the tissue rapidly blisters. Only those with Daywalker Pendants can survive full sunlight without the harmful effects. On the blackest, cloudiest days, a vampire may go outside. They may also remain indoors as long as they are out of the light on sunny days. They can sustain partial burns and not die from minor exposure to the sun such as when it comes through a window. The burn will be severe but not life-threatening.
Appearance: Vampires may or may not be paler than humans. Indirect exposure to sunlight can darken their skin. It may also burn them which will make them more likely to avoid trying it. Their eyes may be brighter in color than a humans.
Types: The two types of vampires are purebloods and changelings. Purebloods are born vampires and are often to be considered the vampire elite. They are flawless in appearance and often extremely beautiful. Changelings are vampires born human. They retain the scars and marks of their human life as well as flaws such as bad eyesight, deafness, and allergies. New tattoos, piercings, and scars will heal up quickly. Piercings will be rejected and the ink from tattoos pushed from the skin. Only those from before the change will remain.
Miscellaneous vampire traits:
-Vampires cannot enter a home without being invited in first. This does not have to be formal, a simple 'Come in' will suffice. However, if told to leave after coming in, the home will repel them.
-Vampires are cold to the touch, and do not have a heartbeat. Changelings will often breath simply out of habit from their mortal years but it is not necessary.
-They cannot fly or shape-shift.
-They do have reflections but prefer to avoid them, especially if they are changelings. Their reflections may appear shadowy and darkened. Photographs of them will hold the same effect.
-In general, they do not like to cross running water, though this may not affect all of them.
-Vampires are often obsessive-compulsive and like to count things.
-Some like to carry their native soil with them for a sense of well-being. That is why many might have a jar of dirt in their possession.
-Looking at a vampire may cause them to look back immediately.
-Vampires may or may not follow the old traditions of avoiding holy objects and sleeping in graves or coffins. This depends entirely upon the individual.
Humans
Knowledge of the undead: Humans generally do not know about vampires or hybrids. The ones who do know are either directly connected to them, hunting them, or considered to be crazy because of their knowledge.
Hunters: Humans and hybrids can take up a career in hunting vampires. They must first prove that the vampire is a danger and then set out to exterminate it.
Hybrids
Feeding habits: Hybrids can easily survive on either blood or regular food with neither one adding or detracting from their abilities.
Reaction to sunlight: Hybrids will be sensitive to the sunlight. They will have tender skin and easily get severe sunburns from prolonged exposure. Their eyes will be sensitive to the light as well. However, they can still lead a mostly humanistic lifestyle.
Appearance: Hybrids are a combination of human and vampire and their features will reflect that. The more human blood they have, the more human they will appear. More vampire blood, more vampire traits.
Types: A hybrid will have a mix of human and vampire traits. It will be weaker than a vampire but stronger than a human. They will live long lives but will age and eventually die. A humanxvampire hybrid will be in the middle of the spectrum on traits and lifespan. A humanxhybrid will be on the weaker side with a more human appearance and traits. A vampirexhybrid mix will be the opposite. A hybridxhybrid will combine the traits of the parents and can land anywhere on the spectrum. Hybrids may have any number of the aforementioned vampire traits.
