Merich was Embraced 400 years ago in France By a Man named Elric Who taught him how to fight and take care of himself, 100 years after traveling together with Elric a hunting party of 20 vampire hunters jumped them and managed to take elric, While Merich escaped

Merich still has no idea wether or not elric survived,
this is the reason for his distanceing from Humans
